Billboard's sales-chart tweaks not a hit with everyone
Various folks commenting on the new chart rules, which I am still very much AGAINST. This quote in favor of the changes sums up my own opinion well:
“The sales are great for consumers and the artists, but from a chart perspective it treats a $10 album and $1 album with equal legitimacy, which is dubious.”
The sales are great for EVERYONE at a time when NOTHING seems to be good for ANYONE in the music business. Why would we want to discourage that? Just to hold on to an outdated “chart” system that’s meaningless anyway?
